May Flutterbies, Part 1

Sunday, May 1st, 2011

Hey Flutterbies fans, welcome to our May newsletter!

Better Than a Tour, It’s a Webcast

First and foremost, thank you to all of you who’ve download our new single, "First Rain of October." We hope you’re enjoying the song!

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to cancel the East Coast tour we’d booked to promote the single. We’re sad to miss our encore show at Cooldog Concerts in Delaware, and our performance in New York’s Central Park (though we hear from "Shakespeare’s Birthday" producer Melinda Hall that the event we’d have been part of was smashing).

And now, the good news: Instead of touring, we’re webcasting! We’ve booked a hometown show at one of our favorite venues, and our set will be webcast live. Here are full details:

Tuesday May 10 at 9:00 PM
Genghis Cohen
740 North Fairfax Ave. in Hollywood, CA
$8 cover
All ages

We’ll be doing an acoustic set, with special guest Marty Rifkin (Bruce Springsteen, Keith Urban) sitting in on pedal steel. We love playing with Marty, and we’re thrilled to be webcasting this gig so you can be blown away by him too…

WATCH US ONLINE AT: www.amaralproductions.com
*The show will be webcast in real time, and also archived for streaming at your leisure.

Hope to see you there, or be seen by you online!

Cody

Last month, Maureen and Jef Scott (The Ghostwriters, Tori Amos, Jim Carroll) backed up her voice/songwriting student Cody La Scala at the Elizabeth Taylor Foundation AIDS Benefit at Aqua Lounge in Beverly Hills, CA. Cody, 24 years old and confined to a wheelchair with cerebral palsy, was incredibly inspirational performing his original tune "I Miss You." He received a standing ovation, and phone numbers from several models.

Cody La Scala

Cody’s mother Lynette La Scala runs the NAPA Center for individuals with neurological conditions. Please check out their website here.

Phlutterbies Pheature

Maureen was recently interviewed for a hot music blog called The Peverett Phile. In the interview, she reveals a shocking photo, her Broadway background, how Bonnie Raitt and Karen Black inspired her and her secret to singing. Click here to read and enjoy! And feel free to leave a comment at the blog…

Part 2, Preview

Finally, our next single will be out in a couple weeks. You’ll never believe which classic heavy metal song we’ve broken in, Flutterbies-style! Stay tuned.
