Summer is heating up with great shows and big news…

WE JUST SIGNED A RECORD DEAL! Tony Valenziano will produce our cool new tunes for Swingtone Records, a subsidiary of Universal Music Group. On traditional vinyl as well as CD, the tunes will also be available on Spotify, Pandora, Itunes, Amazon and Rhapsody, among others.

Tony, now partnered with Bill Walker of Thump Records, started Swingtone in 1995. The label is primed for the return of Rockabilly that has been forged by Imelda May, Brian Setzer and Wanda Jackson/Jack White. Swingtone is also releasing a compilation including not only M&M5, but L.A. Rockabilly all-stars Crown City Bombers, Brian Hogan and Switchblade 3, among others.

In this crazy music biz we sometimes need to think outside the box. You can play a great and IMPORTANT role! We need to build a fan base of 3,000 people in order to launch a Pledge Music Campaign to help with promotional, recording and touring costs. (more info regarding this campaign coming soon!) At this time, we only need you to do one thing: PLEASE GO TO and press the LIKE button. Our goal is 3000 by August 15, 2014. We’re already at 1000, and each person who clicks on 1100, 1200, 1300 etc…will be our guest at an exclusive, LIVE CONCERT/CD Preview Pizza Party with the band!

The new CD features songs by Maureen’s friends Pamela Phillips Oland (Aretha Franklin, Frank Sinatra, Selena, Reba McIntyre, etc) and RJ Comer (Dancehall Pimps Lead Singer, recently in concert with Cherry Poppin’ Daddies) as well as co-writes with M&M 5’s own Steve, Sylvain, Scott & Tommy and Flutterby Adam Daniel!  You’ll get to hear some of these songs at our upcoming gigs….speaking of which…..

AUGUST 10th!

Hey Flutterbies Fans, Friends & Family – we’ve been playing back-to-back concerts with our alter-egos MAUREEN & THE MERCURY 5. It’s a Jump Swing Rockabilly Thang! Think Brian Setzer meets Ann Margret…Maureen Davis on vocals, Adam Daniel on harmonies, Steve Whalen on Bass and Kats Konecky on drums, we’ve been rockin’ this town inside out with growly guitarists like Eitaro Sako (Phat Cat Swinger, Lil Mo & The Dynaflos) on Gretsch and Peter Kavanaugh on classic Telecaster. In May, we played to thousands at the LA Arthritis Walk on the Santa Monica Pier and the West Coast BBQ Classic at the Queen Mary. July 4th we packed the Queen’s Salon on the Queen Mary with musical fireworks of our own!

Phat Cat Swinger frontman Douglas “The Crooner” Roegiers has been guest starring, adding his own Rat Pat style to Maureen’s Hot Rod steam…The set list features 50’s classics plus a few new retro-originals for good measure. Joining us are dance pals, THE HOLLYWOOD HOTSHOTS — Lindy Hopping, jumping over tables and flying through the air. They have been featured in Gloria Estefan’s “Hotel Nacional” and Foster the People’s “Houdini” videos as well as the 2012 Superbowl Budweiser commercial.

Come Alive, Cartoon Network, and Cats

Monday, August 1st, 2011

Hey Flutterbies fans, welcome to our August newsletter… Keywords this month: Come Alive, Cartoon Network, and Cats!

Come Alive

We have a new single for you this month, and it’s debuting with a bang! Our track "Come Alive" will be featured on the Adult Swim/Cartoon Network show Children’s Hospital August 11 at midnight (so that’s actually August 12, technically). They’ve taken our sweet romantic ballad and made it extremely funny, and we love that… The show boasts an ensemble cast with serious star power: Rob Corddry, Megan Mullally, Henry Winkler, and Erinn Hayes. Flashback: Maureen shared an early career dressing room with Erinn at Disneyland. Erinn was there for sketch comedy, and Maureen was making music.

We couldn’t be more thrilled to be checked into Children’s Hospital!

"Come Alive" is the first song Maureen and co-conspirator Adam Daniel wrote for The Flutterbies. An alt-country duet about the thrill ride of falling in love, the track has been a live favorite for some time now, and was even performed at a fan’s wedding! It’s available now at iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, etc. Click the cover art below for a streaming sample and direct links to purchase.

Come Alive (duet with Adam Daniel)

Cats for Cats

Also this month, Flutterby Maureen will appear in the concert Cats for Cats Saturday August 6 at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles, CA. Another impressive cast here includes Fred Willard, Mindy Sterling (from Austin Powers and The Flutterbies "How I Get Over you" music video), Jean Louisa Kelly (from Yes Dear and also another of Maureen’s early career compatriots, from Into the Woods on Broadway), Mandy Moore and this year’s So You Think You Can Dance finalists! All proceeds benefit Kitty Bungalow, a local nonprofit saving stray cats and kittens. Click here for tickets, and use the promo code "friends" and get 50% off!

We hope you enjoy the new single! See ya next month…

The single features Mo and the fiery fingers of Flutterby Adam, and was co-produced with Kenny Lyons (Jim Bianco, The Divinyls, Lemonheads).
