New Single and Screen Time

Sunday, October 16th, 2011

Hey, Flutterbies fans… Let us warm you up as the weather cools—with a sexy, swampy "Slow Ride" and some screen time to snuggle up to.

Slow Ride

Our new single is out now! It’s a cover of Foghat’s classic rock anthem "Slow Ride," with seductive slide guitars and smoky vocals. Sounds like the love child of Pussycat Dolls and Ry Cooder. Click the cover art below for streaming audio and links to purchase:

Next, check out the wacky webcast of Acme Saturday Night hosted by Don Stark from That 70′s Show. The cast kept us laughing so hard backstage we almost missed our cue to play!

May Flutterbies, Part 1

Sunday, May 1st, 2011

Hey Flutterbies fans, welcome to our May newsletter!

Better Than a Tour, It’s a Webcast

First and foremost, thank you to all of you who’ve download our new single, "First Rain of October." We hope you’re enjoying the song!

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to cancel the East Coast tour we’d booked to promote the single. We’re sad to miss our encore show at Cooldog Concerts in Delaware, and our performance in New York’s Central Park (though we hear from "Shakespeare’s Birthday" producer Melinda Hall that the event we’d have been part of was smashing).

And now, the good news: Instead of touring, we’re webcasting! We’ve booked a hometown show at one of our favorite venues, and our set will be webcast live. Here are full details:

Tuesday May 10 at 9:00 PM
Genghis Cohen
740 North Fairfax Ave. in Hollywood, CA
$8 cover
All ages

We’ll be doing an acoustic set, with special guest Marty Rifkin (Bruce Springsteen, Keith Urban) sitting in on pedal steel. We love playing with Marty, and we’re thrilled to be webcasting this gig so you can be blown away by him too…

WATCH US ONLINE AT: www.amaralproductions.com
*The show will be webcast in real time, and also archived for streaming at your leisure.

Hope to see you there, or be seen by you online!

Cody

Last month, Maureen and Jef Scott (The Ghostwriters, Tori Amos, Jim Carroll) backed up her voice/songwriting student Cody La Scala at the Elizabeth Taylor Foundation AIDS Benefit at Aqua Lounge in Beverly Hills, CA. Cody, 24 years old and confined to a wheelchair with cerebral palsy, was incredibly inspirational performing his original tune "I Miss You." He received a standing ovation, and phone numbers from several models.

Cody La Scala

Cody’s mother Lynette La Scala runs the NAPA Center for individuals with neurological conditions. Please check out their website here.

Phlutterbies Pheature

Maureen was recently interviewed for a hot music blog called The Peverett Phile. In the interview, she reveals a shocking photo, her Broadway background, how Bonnie Raitt and Karen Black inspired her and her secret to singing. Click here to read and enjoy! And feel free to leave a comment at the blog…

Part 2, Preview

Finally, our next single will be out in a couple weeks. You’ll never believe which classic heavy metal song we’ve broken in, Flutterbies-style! Stay tuned.

The issue, with Sting on the cover, is available at most national booksellers, newsstands, and Guitar Center stores. The top lists are also posted online:

This is a great band… This is a great song, and it just says it all for me. This is "Louder Louder" by a band called The Flutterbies. And, I mean, what else can you do with a song called "Louder Louder" than turn it up! So turn it up…

Merci, Mark and Montreal!

Thanksgiving Twang: The Flutterbies November news

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

Hey, y’all! Welcome to The Flutterbies November newsletter. Keywords this month: Top 25, birthday, and rearview!

Minds out of the gutter, children…

The Flutterbies Go Top 25

The Flutterbies will be featured in the December issue of Music Connection magazine: we’re one of their Top 25 New Music Critiques of 2009! Birthday at the Bistro

We celebrated Maureen’s birthday November 2nd with a private industry showcase at Ivan Kane’s Cafe Wa s in Hollywood, CA. The evening was produced by Black Sand Music, who recently signed The Flutterbies for TV, film, advertisement, and video game placement. After an opening set by Shane Alexander, The Flutterbies rocked the bistro… and then the bistro rocked Maureen: everyone in attendence sang her happy birthday.

It’s good to be queen.

The Flutterbies would like to thank everyone who contributed to our spectacular evening: our sound man, Holder; Lana, Ivan, Suzie, and Alex at Cafe Wa s; lovely leather-clad Lynda Kay for her invaluable assistance; our manager, Keith C. Anderson; our licensing agent, Josh Sanderson; and, of course of course, our enthusiastic audience!

Put Another Dime in the Jukebox, Baby, continued

In November you can still catch The Flutterbies’ single "Hummingbird Heart" on your local jukebox! We’re on the Paste Magazine Emerging Artist Channel on the Ecast Network. Ecast jukeboxes appear in over 10,000 bars, nightclubs, and restaurants throughout the country. You want fries with that?!

Video Killed the Radio Star, continued

The Flutterbies video for our next single "How I Get Over You" is just inches shy of done! A few foley effects and we’re fully wrapped. Please allow us to tease you with a still from the clip: Maureen in the rearview mirror…

Maureen in the mirror

Stay tuned, stay tuned, stay tuned…
