Christmas, Kudos, and “Come Alive”: The Flutterbies December newsletter

Monday, December 7th, 2009

Hey, y’all… Happy Holidays! Welcome to The Flutterbies December newsletter. Keywords this month: Christmas, kudos, and "Come Alive"!

A Holiday Gift For You, From The Flutterbies

We thought and thought… What can we give our fans for the holidays? And then we had the perfect idea: free music! So from now until New Year’s Eve, you can download the first song ever written by The Flutterbies: "Come Alive". The tune is a sweet acoustic duet between Maureen and Flutterby Adam Daniel, recorded live by Kiyoshi Graves and mixed by Tom Caffey.

Click the single art, below, to download the song (it’s also posted for download at our iLike page). Enjoy!

Year-End Kudos

Each December, in a special year-end issue, Music Connection magazine publishes best-of-the-year lists for both recorded and live music. They say they "carefully skim the cream of the crop," and… we rose to the top! The Flutterbies appear on both their Top 25 New Music Critiques and Hot 100 List of Live Unsigned Bands for 2009. The issue, with Sting on the cover, is available at most national booksellers, newsstands, and Guitar Center stores. The top lists are also posted online:

Video Killed the Radio Star, continued

The Flutterbies video for our next single "How I Get Over You" is finally done!! We’ll be uploading it to YouTube and debuting it in January, ringing in 2010 in wild cinematic style… Stay tuned, stay tuned…

Upcoming Gigs

The Flutterbies are playing NAMM! The annual musical equipment trade show in Anaheim, CA is a hard gig to get, and we got it: We’re playing the opening night party, and you don’t need a NAMM badge to attend. So it’s a free show in Orange County! Come on down…

Wednesday January 13 at 8:00 PM
Hilton Anaheim Mainstage
777 Convention Way
Anaheim, CA 92802

Our love and thanks to classic Country crooner Lynda Kay for hooking us up with NAMM, and also to James Trussart Guitars for sponsoring our set. Gonna be a barn-burner.

The Flutterbies are Maureen Davis on lead vocals, Adam Daniel on guitar/vocals, Christopher Allis on drums, Steve Whalen on bass, and Chris Joyner on Wurlitzer/organ/piano.

Full gig info is always posted and current at our website’s Shows page.

Radio Radio

The Flutterbies continue to widen our international audience… This month, we’re on the radio in Canada! Our song "Louder Louder" is featured in a podcast called The Rock and Roll Report that also airs on CKUT FM radio in Montreal. DJ Mark Boudreau gave us this fine, fine introduction:

This is a great band… This is a great song, and it just says it all for me. This is "Louder Louder" by a band called The Flutterbies. And, I mean, what else can you do with a song called "Louder Louder" than turn it up! So turn it up…

Turn it up, indeed! Click here to stream the podcast. (We’re on 28 minutes into the show.)

Merci, Mark and Montreal!

Stocking Full of Flutterbies

Our EP The Flutterbies featuring Maureen Davis is for sale online, still and always, at iTunes, CD Baby, Amazon, Rhapsody, etc. The CD fits snugly into most stockings, and makes a lovely surface on which to spin dreidels after you’ve ripped it to your hard drive. So this holiday season… buy us, baby, buy us!

Happy/Merry, y’all!
